Q: What does NTEP mean?
A: NTEP is National Type Evaluation Program and a scale receives an NTEP Certificate once it has successfully completed an evaluation. The certificate indicates the device is capable of meeting applicable requirements of the national Institute of Standards and technology
Q: Do I need an NTEP Approved Scale?
A: If you are using this scale for commerce, such as selling, buying, trading, or establishing a cost for services based on weight, then an NTEP scale is recommended
Q: What does calibration mean?
A: Calibration is adjusting the scale to accurately read “0” and accurately read the weight applied.
Q: How often does the scale need to be calibrated?
A: All our scales are factory calibrated prior to shipment, but we recommend at least an annual calibration to maintain accuracy. Your Quality Policy may require that testing and calibration be performed more frequently
Q: What size platform do I need?
A: If you are using standard pallets (Usually 48” X 40”), we recommend our 4’ X 4’ platform
Q: What does 5,000 X 1LB or 10,000 X 2LB mean?
A: 5,000 and 10,000 is the capacity of the scale in pounds, meaning that the scale will handle a load up to 5,000 or 10,000 pounds. The 1LB and 2LB is what the scale increments by, so with a 5,000LB scale the scale will increment at 1, 2, 3, pounds etc. and with a 10,000LB scale the scale will increment by 2, 4, 6, pounds etc.
